Urgent plumbing help across Sydney

Burst Pipe Repair Sydney

Water escaping from a wall, beneath concrete or across your yard? Sydney Plumbing Empire investigates burst water pipes, locates hidden leaks and carries out repairs or an initial make-safe to limit further water loss.

For an active leak, call directly. We confirm attendance availability, access requirements and charges before work proceeds.

Reduce the water loss if it is safe

If you can safely reach it, turn off the tap at your water meter. Keep clear of water near electrical equipment and stay out from under a sagging ceiling. Call us with your suburb, where water is appearing and whether the water has been isolated.

For faults involving Sydney Water infrastructure, check Sydney Water's fault reporting guidance.

Visible burst or hidden pipe leak?

A split exposed pipe can be straightforward to identify. When the pipe is behind a wall, under a slab or beneath paving, water may appear some distance from the fault. We investigate before deciding where access is needed.

  • Burst copper water pipes and failed pipe connections
  • Concealed leaks in wall cavities and beneath flooring
  • Underground water services beneath soil, paving or concrete
  • Urgent isolation and temporary make-safe work where a permanent repair needs further access

How we approach the repair

  1. Assess and isolate. Establish the immediate issue and reduce active water loss where possible.
  2. Locate the fault. Use appropriate tests if the pipe failure is concealed.
  3. Confirm access and scope. Discuss any cutting, excavation, materials and proposed repair costs.
  4. Repair and check. Complete the agreed plumbing work and test the repaired section before restoring service where appropriate.

Burst water main beneath concrete

On a front-yard job, tree-root damage affected a water main beneath concrete. Sydney Plumbing Empire located the affected area and repaired the burst main. Concealed jobs can involve both detection and access work, so those steps need to be allowed for when planning a repair.

Before you book

What should I do if a pipe bursts?

If it is safe to reach, turn off the tap at the water meter to reduce the water escaping, then call a plumber. Keep clear of water near electrical equipment and of sagging ceilings. Do not enter an unsafe area to reach a valve.

Can you locate an underground burst water pipe?

We assess the symptoms and use suitable pressure and acoustic tests to narrow down the affected pipe. The repair may need excavation or a targeted opening once the location and access are discussed.

Will the pipe be repaired during the first visit?

That depends on access, pipe condition, materials and the extent of damage. Some jobs can be repaired during the visit; others need an initial make-safe followed by further work. We explain the proposed scope before proceeding.

Can you document the work for my insurer?

We can document the observed damage, testing, leak location and plumbing work, with photos where available. Let us know any insurer or builder reporting requirements when booking. Insurance cover is decided by the insurer.

Do you attend outside business hours?

Emergency plumbing enquiries are available 24/7. Call to confirm attendance availability and the applicable callout and work charges; a response time cannot be promised from the website alone.
